Strength

Strength.Life throws us some pretty tough challenges when we are least expecting. Sometimes the problem can be easily fixed, while other times there is nothing we can do but watch what is happening around us. Even though times may get tough, we can be encouraged that with the Lord's strength we will be able to endure hard times. True strength is keeping it together when everyone else expects you to fall apart. True strength is the power of persistence to keep going on when all the odds are against you. Strength doesn't come from what you can do; it comes from overcoming things you once thought you couldn't do. Allow God to become the source of your strength when you cannot pull it together for yourself. Philippians 4:13 says that we can do ALL things through Christ that strengthens us. With Him, no feeling is too hard to overcome and no situation is too hard to endure. Psalm 18:2 says that God our my rock, our fortress, and our shield. You can be confident that with God you do not have to worry. You are always stronger than you think you are - you never know your true strength until you are forced to be strong. Rely on God and you will always have the victory.

"This is my command - be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
Joshua 1:9

Speak Life

Growing up, your mother may have taught you that name calling was mean. As you got a little older, she may have had to remind you that it's not nice gossip about others behind their backs. My mother always told me that if I didn't have anything nice to say, "then don't say anything at all." Those elementary manners that we learned as small children actually are based on biblical principals. The bible says"Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose." (Proverbs 18:21 MSG) Our words have power, and we must pay attention the the things we say. As Pretty Girls, we are to use our words to edify (build up) ourselves and those around us. Whenever you are having a bad day, you can speak God's word over yourself for encouragement and instantly feel a whole lot better. (Believe me it works!) If you know someone that is frustrated or upset, you can use your words to speak life into them and turn their frown upside down. Profanity, insulting others, name calling and gossiping are just a few of the many examples of the words people use to hurt each other. If ever someone tries to speak against who God says you are, use your words and and let them know all the good that God says you are. You have the authority over what you say; be sure your words are helping and not harming someone else.

Proverbs 16:24
Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
